Who is House of Bread in Mill Creek?

Wayne and Anita Warren opened the House of Bread, a unique micro-bakery featuring over twenty-five premium breads, in September 2004. The bakery is located in the Mill Creek Town Center at 15224 Main St. Suite 105.

They chose House of Bread because House of Bread operates on the old school principle that a business is part of the community. The Mill Creek bakery is the first House of Bread in Washington; House of Bread is a franchise based out of San Luis Obispo, CA. In addition to featuring over twenty-five premium breads, the bakery serves a tempting assortment of cinnamon rolls, muffins, and scones... all made from scratch each and every day. The bakery also offers a healthy sandwich and soup selection daily. A selection of quality coffees featuring freshly ground coffee beans is also available.

The bakery features a wheat mill visible in the customer area where the flour is stone ground from wheat berries (grain). Visit the House of Bread Monday to Friday 7:00am to 7:00pm and Saturday 8:00am to 6:00pm and treat yourself to the experience of watching bakers engage in the age-old trade of kneading each loaf by hand while you enjoy free samples of their work.

     

What Makes House of Bread Different?

Wayne is known to be a little bit picky with foods that are ground, like flour and coffee. He operates the flour mill two or three times a week to create the fresh milled wheat flour that is used in the 100% whole wheat doughs. The coffee in the drip coffee pot is ground from beans no more that 24 hours before it is brewed. This is the way Wayne has been drinking his own coffee for the past 20 years. But the espresso beans are not ground until the drink is ordered! Have you ever smelled stale coffee grounds at an espresso bar? Not at House of Bread. Freshness is a rule here.

Everything produced by House of Bread is made from scratch. Everything is made the way it is supposed to be made; bread without chemicals or preservatives; scones with real cream; cinnamon rolls oozing with brown sugar and butter. Ingredients are the right ingredients, and not the cheapest. Our primary sweetener is honey, not the high fructose corn syrup that you find in most other breads. Honey is expensive, but it makes the best bread.

Fresh, natural, rich. This makes House of Bread's slogan "Where Good Taste Comes Naturally" much more than mere words. Our products taste good because they are made right!
